ABOUT US

Our History, Present, and Future

The origins of the Bakers’ Association date back to the early 19th century in Bologna, when a group of local bakery owners would gather at the “dl’Uvarol” tavern on Via Gombruti. There, they met to tackle the pressing issues of their trade, from the deeply unpopular grist tax to the regulation of bread prices.

Over time, this tight-knit group evolved into a formal trade union. Even during the Fascist regime, when it was integrated as a guild within the Merchants’ Union, the association successfully preserved its distinct identity and core mission.
